Week # 46
Never gets old

Hey peeps. Cant wait to write another one of these;)

Ok so Tuesday. We had district meeting. Got to see the gang and that was fun. We took district photos. Then just came home and contacted like crazy. Had my first dinner with a member since I have been here - with a super cool family! The made us grilled cheese sandwiches! It's been a while since I have had one of those haha. Then we just talked about following the spirit!

Wednesday we went contacting in the morning and found a really cool family from Peru. They were super nice. I got the other Elders in the apartment sick. Stinks for them! Then we had a ward meeting. It was mostly about missionary work.

Thursday was kinda hard, the ward asked us to do less active work so we just did a lot of trying to find less actives which didn't really work because they haven't updated the list since who knows when and none of the less actives even lived there! Then we got cancelled on.

Friday we taught a cool less active named Didi he used to be a singer professionally. He showed us his music, it was pretty fun. He served a mission, but he is completely less active. After that we went out contacting.

Saturday was so much fun. It was the day we found out if we were staying or not. I'm staying! Luckily and another transfer with Elder Rodriguez! In the morning we played soccer with members and stuff Samdi sports. It was super fun! I scored a goal. I felt like a boss. Then we ate dinner with a less active family who are they coolest people ever! We are going over there again this week! They are also from Peru. Then long story short we ended up doing service in the chapel in Paris and helping set up a youth party at the chapel. It was so much fun! Got to meet a bunch of Americans! My old seminary teachers daughter was there.

Sunday was just normal. Church n' stuff. People saying they will come...but don't. Us waiting at the bus stop and no one coming...lots of fun. We did less active work again. At night contacted this super cool lady who isn't a member but has a son who lives in Africa who served a mission! She doesn't know anything about the church and is super interested. She will totally be baptized, the only problem is that we will probably have to pass her to the Sisters because I think she is living single....so that's kinda of a bummer.

Today! Went to the Eiffel Tower for my third time it never gets old. That's about it! Love my life. Love my mission. Church is true have a good week you guys! Love ya!

Week #45

Sacre-Coeur

Hey everybody!

This week was pretty rough! Tuesday I woke up and I was pretty sick! But I still went to district meeting. We found a new ami. We also taught a dude that day. My voice was slowly fading away.

Wednesday I woke up and couldn't even talk and felt like crap. I woke up at like 3 Am and couldn't fall back asleep. But I had a dream to call this dude in the area book. So we called him and he said he was just thinking about us and we fixed a RDV with him so that was pretty cool. I went to the doctor and she gave me medicine that helped a ton. Then just slept.

Thursday I was still sick! It was a kid in the apartments year mark and we all went to a sushi place and it was super good. Then we had an RDV fixed at the church, but the guy was a no show.

Friday was weekly planning. I was starting to feel better. Got cancelled on again by a guy. Just went contacting in the night even though I sounded like Darth Vader.

Saturday was pretty cool. We had Samedi Sports and we played a bunch of people. They were really good. Our amis came too. Then we had stake conference so we had to practice singing a song that we were going to sing. We got lost on the way there. So we walked and I have never sweat that bad in my whole life. We show up like 30 mins late. then 5 mins later we had to leave... super annoying. Then Elder Bayer stayed the night in the apartment. It was super fun. We just talked about Auxerre n stuff.

Sunday. Elder Rodriguez wakes up sick with what I had poor guy. And we were supposed to sing. So like that was not very good. Then we sang and I had to stand front row which was crazy.  After that we went home and Elder Rodo slept so yeah, not the best week ever. Hope you guys have a good one. This week should be better. My comp. is still sick, so let's all hope he gets better soon. So am I, just a little though, but it's not that bad!
Love you guys! Have a good one!

Week #44
Exchange with Elder Karl

Hello Peeps!

Tuesday Elder Karl and I had an exchange! We worked super hard.  People could tell how much we got along and we taught a TON of people. We later got macaroons together and the guy at the store liked us and gave them to us for free! We taught some more people and it was just an all around good day. We stayed up super late - LOL!

Wednesday I was super tired, I was still on an exchange with Elder Karl. We did a ton of work again. Taught everyone we could! We got a lot of phone numbers. I don't really remember too much because I was so tired haha. All I remember is that I was having a good time:)

Thursday whoa it was a long day haha. We had Zone Conference and wow it was long. Started at 9h30 and we didn't leave until like 4h30! It was a lot of sitting!

Friday we painted for Linda again. We then weekly planned and then just more missionary work. We tried going outside and contacting, but come to find out Jay Z and BeyoncĂ© were throwing a concert less than a mile from our apartment.

Saturday we did 'Samedi Sports' we had a lot of people there so it was good. We played basketball this time - I was Michael Jordan compared to these Frenchies! No joke. After Samedi Sports we did more traditional missionary work. Same problem Saturday night, Jay Z and BeyoncĂ© were doing a second night in Paris so like our entire part of the ville got shut down!! I took a pic next to the line and a pic at night time. I got a concert t-shirt haha. But yeah we heard their voices, it was pretty crazy.

Sunday was alright, but I woke up sick.. and after Church I just slept! After sleeping I felt better so we got to do a little work Sunday night!

Monday. Today...long story short p-day just was walking thanks to the bus drivers who are on strike again! So yep there is my week love you guys - till next week!

Week #43

Best Sunday of my mission!

Hey Everyone I had a good week! I will try and make this better than last week, but no promises.
Tuesday Elder Karl was in our apartment, so that was nice. We also had district meeting so I got to see Elder Johnson and Dayley which was fun! We got a referall that day too which was awesome!

Wednesday we painted again for that lady, it took a long time. It was weird too because she wasn't there.  After went contacting, nothing happened. Then some missionaries had to stay in our apartment and we went to Chipottle.  I was walking up the stairs and I fell so hard. Best part though is that I saved the burrito... so like that was a win in my book. I have a hug bruise on my leg though and a big cut on my elbow. It was pretty ugly haha.

Thursday Painted again for a little bit and then contacted. We gave linda a Arabic Book or Mormon.

Friday was a super good day. We taught 4 lessons in one day! we worked super hard. found a new ville where there were some great people. The metro there isn't super sketchy! So there is a miracle for ya!

Saturday was cool! We did Samedi Sports. Ryan Hall from back home is there and other cool people. I'm getting decent at soccer. Look out all you missoinaries in Mexico. Then did weekly planning. After we contacted, found  a new ami named Jack.

Sunday was super good. Best Sunday of the mission. People gave super good testimonies. This kid was there and I just decided to talk to him. He was from La Reunion which is just next to Madagascar. He is Paris for school. He was really quiet and the ward was really nice to him. After he bore his testimony about how much he loves the ward and missionaries and how was he was so scared to come to church and he cried and I felt so happy inside! Then in the night time went finding and got a dudes number named Patrick he was really nice and yep that's my week! Love u guys thanks for the letters!

Mona Lisa

Hey! So not a lot of time this week. sorry for all the emails I didn't respond to. This one is going to be short because I don't have a lot of time, and not that much happened this week.

I will give you guys some of the cool stuff that happened. So we went on exchanges Tuesday in Chartes. I kicked it  with ,Elder Karl but I was on a exchange with his companion. Then we found a new ami named Linda, we are doing service for her by painting her house. She is young with a family. She seemed legit interested, we will take what we can get.

Church was good. I like the members and our DMP is legit. Today we went to the Louvre it was so cool! It is HUGE! I knew it was big, but like not that big. Saw Mona. Front row. There was a mosh pit of people...we won though. Anyway that's my week, very simply. Love u guys bye!

Week #41
The flood

Changing it up a bit - so just a warning... this computer has no spell check whatsoever!

Ok let's start on Tuesday. It was my last day in Auxerre and it feels like forever ago! We just went finding all day until night time. We got a call from a potential ami and he asked if we could play soccer tonight? I was like YES!!! So we did and he became an ami and our most solid ami. After he invited us back to his apartment, we ate diner and played guitar. Super fun way to end.

Wednesday was crazy! Transfer day! Nuts as ever. We got into Paris at like 9h and my companion didn't get in until about 2h.. so I had a lot of time to wait. There were a lot of missionaries there, so I was lucky and got to talk to some friends! Finally met Elder Rodriguez. We are in trouble, come to find out he is from Virginia - 10 mins away from the beach! He isn't Hispanic and doesn't speak any Spanish...and our companionship is supposed to be a spanish speaking one as well as French...President thought he could speak spanish... nope... so this will be an interesting transfer. He is actually half Korean. We met up with Elder Perry a crazy awesome Tahitian. Love that kid to death and he took us back home. Carried all our stuff by ourselves throughout Paris, was a NIGHTMARE. I'm still sore. We get there and Perry says "don't use the bathroom...it has been having some problems lately.." (this will become very important later)

Thursday/Friday rolls around we wake up and the apartment is completely flooded. And guess what kinda water it is!!! Drum roll...toilet water. Our apartment STILL smells like death. So we call the people who are in-charge of that stuff and I'm like "hey we got a serious problem here...no toilet seat, and no toilet...and we are flooding" We were cleaning it up the whole day! We had a DMP meeting. We just got a DMP but our meeting wasn't with our real DMP, it was just with a guy in the ward because he was out of town. Then we were on toilet duty again.

Thursday still trying to un-flood the apartment. Finally they get a plumber over. It was super expensive. We had about 4 inches of water in the bathroom! Then we had a RDV with a guy we found named Moosa. It was good we taught him in a mall. He didn't come to church thought so that was a bummer. Then Elder Karl stayed the night and we just ended up talking allllllllllllllll night long haha.

Saturday we dropped off Elder Karl then did a thing called Samedi Sports! It's where the ward gets together and we all play soccer it's the best! We went so hard! We played till 2h. After soccer we weekly planned.

Sunday went to church. Almost late haha. The ward is huge like 100 plus active! No amis came...super annoying because we were suppose to have 3. The Souers (sisters) had a baptism! So that was rad. After we ate then went contacting around the Grand Arch (located in the Modern Business District of Paris). Talked to a member for a while, it was chill.

TODAY. that's a new one huh? It was a REAL p-day meaning we actually DID SOMETHING!!! We saw the Arch of Triumph! And went to the very top. It was free for us because we have french Visas!!! It was so epic! We then shopped on the Champs-Elysees. I got a coat:) Now we are doing emails. Good week! Love you guys thanks for the emails!!!

Love - Elder Beck

Week #40

Transferring to Paris

Hey! This week was super good, really busy, but good!

For starters I am getting transferred to Pairs! I will be in St. Ouen (pronounced San Twon) which is in the Sacred Heart Basilica area! I cant wait! I am white washing this area with a kid named Elder Rodriguez.

Tuesday was legit, it was district meeting. We thought it would be fun to do an activity and go see the Arch of Triumph. But it was an epic fail and everyone was just mad the whole time. Elders Johnson, Watts my companion and me were having fun! So we just left the rest and went and got something to eat. We found a dude that lived in Brazil who was a member and hasn't seen the missionaries since... So we gave him the ZL's number in Paris and the address for the church. We heard later that he went to church on Sunday so that was cool. Then a bunch of crazy stuff happened with the trains and they ran out of power, so we missed our train 4 times haha so we went shopping and it was awesome. Saw some Americans! They took pics with us, we felt cool:) We didn't get home till like 10h30 haha.

Wednesday was super crazy. An INSANE rain storm hit Auxerre, so bad that we couldn't even drive in it! So our exchange with the Troyes Elders was just us pretty much sitting in the apartment doing area book work.

Thursday we went contacting  and tried visiting less actives and old amis. No one was home and or no longer lived at the addresses we had in our book. Then we just contacted the rest of the day.

Friday was more contacting. We had to weekly plan and after we went a saw Tsiry. It was a good RDV, it will be my last time ever going to her house which was sad! We taught about priesthood and prayer. Then just did pass-backs in the evening.

Saturday was the day I found out I am getting transferred to Paris! So I was on cloud 9 all day. Also, my MTC comp, Elder Karl, is my District Leader! He is so happy it'

s going to be so much fun! Then at night we went porting in a this place and found 3 new amis - it was epic!

Sunday was 'goodbye day'. But it was good because I am ready to get on to my next ville, I was glad because I was able to say my goodbyes fast haha. After we went over to the Judas house and ate food. Then at night we went contacting and porting. So that's my week!

The photos are pretty lame this week, sorry I didn't have a lot of time to pull out the camera this week. Love you guys!  P.S. A guy that I found and taught in Charleroi is getting baptized this week!
